“Young Masters” AA (21-26 years)

New age category

Something will change in 2024! We’re getting younger in 2024! We are following the example of the USA and Canada and are introducing the “Young Masters” AA age category (21-26 years).

What does that mean exactly?

Until now, Masters rowers had to be at least 27 years old. We are simply expanding this in the interests of a broader, more diverse and more varied offering. Now you can take part if you are 21 years old. The “Young Masters” category was created for this purpose. Unfortunately we couldn’t think of a better name, sorry! So you are a “Young Master” if you are between 21 and 26 years old in 2024.

Which races can I take part in as a “Young Master”?

  • All events advertised with AA-A category: These events are advertised for AA and A together, but the AA and A age categories are scored separately. The winners of each age category receive their own medals.
  • All advertised races, if the minimum age average fits: You can take part in races of higher age categories with other Masters if the calculated average age for the respective age category “fits”.
Example: You enter a boat for event 322 MM 2x C, minimum average age 43 years, with two rowers aged 21 and 67. In this case, the average age of the boat (44 years) corresponds exactly to age category C.
